Carespring Hemodialysis Service

While patients are recovering from an illness or injury, the countless hours they spend receiving dialysis services in an outpatient clinic can cause them to miss valuable rehabilitation opportunities and delay their recovery. Carespring has partnered with DaVita SNF Dialysis and Fresenius Kidney Care to provide convenient, state-of-the-art treatments at three of our locations.

What is Hemodialysis?

Hemodialysis is an innovative treatment for those with severe kidney disease or kidney failure, which occurs when toxic waste products and fluid in the bloodstream are unable to be filtered out naturally.

Essentially, hemodialysis does the job of a healthy kidney — by filtering toxic blood through an artificial kidney (also known as a dialyzer) and cleaning it before returning it to the body. The procedure is typically performed in a hospital, dialysis center or at home several times a week, with each session lasting three to five hours.

Care and Support

We provide a convenient hemodialysis service at our Coldspring, Indianspring and Dayspring communities, with a trained clinical team of nurses and technicians on hand to provide close supervision and support.

Our Coldspring and Indianspring locations have a dedicated treatment room (or “den”) where patients receive hemodialysis several days a week, with all of their treatments, labs and checkups taking place on site. This means that patients and residents have much more time to focus on their rehabilitation and nursing care program, because they’re not spending hours away in an outpatient clinic.

At our Dayspring location, hemodialysis services are provided in the comfort of a resident’s room.

Hemodialysis FAQs

Anyone suffering from kidney disease will eventually need either dialysis or a kidney transplant. Symptoms of kidney failure include nausea, weakness, and ankle swelling. If bloodwork results from a lab show toxic levels of waste, your doctor will most likely begin dialysis treatments.

Dialysis takes over the job of your kidneys. Your blood is filtered and cleaned either inside or outside the body (depending on the type of dialysis treatment you need) by a machine. The treatment itself shouldn’t hurt, but you may experience some side effects such as low blood pressure or fatigue.

Hemodialysis is simply one of the two types of dialysis treatments available to patients suffering from kidney disease. While they both involve cleaning your blood, the techniques used to do that are different.
