Chesterwood’s Advanced Therapy Center offers skilled nursing and rehabilitation offerings at our location in West Chester and just down the road from Voice of America Park. The Advanced Therapy Center helps patients regain mobility and independence in a high-tech motivational environment, with services that include 24-hour nursing care and medical support, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

Our modern facility offers a wide range of features and amenities that include:

  • The latest therapy equipment to capture valuable data and facilitate your recovery — including training treadmills, recumbent bikes, strength and motion trainers, a therapy pool and more.
  • An outdoor courtyard. Featuring steps, hills and other obstacles, this provides the perfect opportunity to accomplish tasks on surfaces like concrete, grass and decking.
  • A choice of restaurant-style dining. Both Paxton’s Grill and The Birch offer delicious comfort food ranging from hearty classics to gourmet specialties, as well as a rotating list of daily specials. You can also head to Java Jim’s for a light snack or freshly brewed cup of coffee.
  • All the comforts of home. Our private suites include amenities like 50” flat-screen TVs, fully electric hospital beds with therapeutic mattresses, spacious walk-in showers, beautiful oversized windows and more. And in addition to resting in your room, you can also visit with friends and family in The Hub — our comfortable communal gathering place.

Skilled Nursing

With a dedicated team of nurses, doctors, therapists, nutritionists, social workers and other healthcare professionals, our skilled nursing services provide comprehensive care after a health setback such as a stroke, fall or surgery. Patients receive attentive clinical support that includes monitoring vital signs, administering medication, changing wound dressing, assisting with bathing and dressing and more.

Rehabilitation

To help bridge the gap between hospital and home, we also provide specialized services that promote recovery after surgery or a major health event. Our multi-disciplinary offerings include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy — everything a patient needs to heal, regain strength and mobility, and get back to doing the things they love.

Hospice Care

At Carespring, we work collaboratively with hospice providers to ensure our residents are surrounded by kindness and compassion in a calming, familiar setting. Advanced Therapy Center FAQs

Skilled nursing within a senior living community provides 24-hour licensed nursing care. This area within a community primarily provides long-term care or rehabilitative therapies for patients and residents who need medical or nursing care and is ideal for those with chronic medical conditions or disabilities, those in chronic pain, or those who require round-the-clock care and supervision by licensed skilled nursing professionals.

If you have experienced neuromuscular or skeletal injury or dysfunction, you want the best physical therapy available. Our program focuses on individualized therapeutic treatment to help restore function, and may include:

  • Training in mobility, gait stability, posture and positioning
  • Exercise programs to increase muscle function, coordination and endurance
  • Joint and soft tissue mobilization to increase range of motion
  • Wound care
  • Pain management

They’re similar in that both help to restore strength and mobility; occupational therapy helps people adapt to their social and physical environment through:

  • Education and training in areas such as dressing, bathing, eating and grooming
  • Activities for memory, orientation and cognitive integration
  • Adaptive techniques or equipment to overcome physical disabilities
  • Strengthening and coordination exercises
  • Exercises to maintain normal joint movement to reduce the effects of arthritis or other conditions

Speech and language pathologists address general communication issues and swallowing dysfunction. Treatment plans are designed for such individual needs as:

  • Recovery of speech, language and memory skills
  • Verbal and nonverbal communication, including programs for the hearing-impaired
  • Oral muscle strength and functioning required for speaking and swallowing
  • Appropriate dietary recommendations

A typical session last 60-90 minutes; but time can vary based on the individual’s therapy plan.
